More Cleaning Tips from Nuell, Inc.
February 15, 2011
In case you missed the most recent issue of the OMS Staff CommuniQue, Nuell offered some additional cleaning tips for your electric/pneumatic powered equipment and accessories:
1) Leave cord/hose (or a Nuell, Inc. Cleaning Handle) attached to handpiece
2) Point handpiece nose down while rinsing under water to clean
3) Shake or dry using compressed or nitrogen air (with nose pointing down) to minimize external water from entering handpiece
4) Wipe dry with a lint free towel
5) Pnuematic handpieces, run handpiece 5 to 10 seconds prior to sterilizing, blow out excess moisture that may have invaded handpiece while cleaning
6) Do NOT run electric handpieces before sterilizing. If there is water or moisture inside the handpiece, the water or moisture could short out your handpiece.
Nuell, Inc. offers onsite tips for proper care and handling of your equipment, or they will come to you and train all practice personnel on the “care and handling” of your surgical equipment. No time for a training session during business hours? Then talk to Nuell about a “Lunch and Learn” session. AAOMS members contact them at 800-829-7694.
